Canep Media is able to match advertisements with users based on their individual profiles. While at different stages someone in the Canep Media network (an "Identity Provider") identifies a visitor for us, and someone else (an "Information Provider") provides profile information on that visitor, at no time does any party have more personal information than it already has.

• Identity Providers do not pass the identities of the visitors to Canep Media, to the website publishers, or to the advertisers, and they don't know what website the visitor is visiting.
  
  
• Information Providers don't know what website the visitor is visiting, and pass only the profile back to Canep Media - stripped of any name, address, or other personal identifier.
  
  
• Advertisers never know who the visitor is, or even what website the visitor is on.

The Canep Media network is far less of a threat to your personal privacy than traditional direct mail, where mailers routinely rent lists - with names and addresses - with all kinds of personal data, including what magazines we subscribe to, what kind of car we drive, our professions, our income, our legal proceedings, our credit scores, and much more.
